Police detain a cab driver who may have had cannabis concealed in fertilizer bags.

Large amounts of suspected cannabis were found hidden in fertilizer bags, leading police in the Greater Accra Region to arrest a cab driver.

The Ghana Police Service’s National Highway Patrol Unit made the arrest on Monday, June 2, 2025, as part of a special intelligence operation.

Officers pulled over the suspect, Ernest Mohammed Adjiri, who was operating a Hyundai i10 cab registered GW 9832-22.

Three fertilizer sacks with 120 slabs of crushed dry leaves thought to be cannabis were found inside the car after a search.

The police said that during questioning, Mr. Adjiri acknowledged that the objects were his.

He is presently being held by the police and is anticipated to appear in court.
