Asante Kotoko dismiss Head Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum following bad run of results

Following many underwhelming performances in the Ghana Premier League, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has abruptly ended head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum’s second spell with the Porcupine Warriors by formally parting ways with him.

The decision, made by the club today, comes in the aftermath of a three-match winless streak that concluded in a 2-0 defeat to Nations FC on Matchday 28.

After leading Kotoko to league victory in the 2021–2022 season, the coach returned to the club in July 2023 with great expectations, but the outcome seems to have sealed his fate.

In a statement confirming the news, the club said: “Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has this afternoon parted company with Head Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum. Following fruitful negotiations between the two sides, this decision was made with the mutual agreement that it is now best for the club.

The team urged its followers to maintain composure and thanked Ogum for his efforts throughout his time there. “We wish Coach Ogum the best of luck in all of his future pursuits and appreciate his commitment and devotion to the team. We implore our fans to maintain their composure and keep helping the team during this change. In due course, more updates will be shared,” the statement said.

With six games left in the season, Kotoko is presently six points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. As the championship race nears its end, focus will now shift to who can save the season and resurrect the team’s dwindling chances of winning the league again.
