As part of its efforts to upgrade electricity distribution networks and increase service dependability, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) scheduled a number of planned and emergency repair actions throughout many areas today, Thursday, May 8, 2025.
The planned improvements would impact portions of the Ashanti, Central, and Greater Accra regions, according to a public notification from ECG. Disruptions are anticipated between 9 a.m. and different closure hours according on the location.
Region of Ashanti
Both scheduled and emergency maintenance will be performed in the Ashanti Region.
Between nine in the morning and three in the afternoon, Tetrem, Boamang, and the adjacent regions will be the focus of an emergency maintenance exercise. The initiative is intended to improve service delivery in the impacted neighborhoods, and ECG has expressed regret for any inconvenience.
Concurrently, numerous locales will be impacted by scheduled maintenance from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including:
– BRRI, CRI, Abirem, Antoa, Adesina, Kenyase, Bosore, Akate Farms, Nwamase, Brofoyedru, Garden City, Duase and surrounding areas
– Akyease, Tikrom, Baworo, Adako Jachie, Raktia Farms, Agyiriwaa, Akokoamon, Kyerekrom, Paakoso, Aprade and surrounding areas
According to ECG, these planned changes are a part of larger initiatives to improve power supply and provide more reliable energy distribution throughout the area.
The Central Area
The Central Region’s Elmina Shell, African Pot, CP, Iture, Abakam, Duakro, and surrounding areas would be impacted by the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. maintenance exercise. ECG apologized for the inconvenience and promised that regular service will be restored as soon as the maintenance was finished.
Region of Greater Accra
Due to planned maintenance works that are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, residents in Teshie New England, the Chain Homes Estate, and the neighboring neighborhoods will also be without electricity.
Notice to Customers
Although ECG has apologized for any difficulty the disruptions may have caused, it has emphasized the significance of the work in guaranteeing long-term improvements in service quality and dependability.
In warnings sent to all impacted regions, the power distributor said, “ECG regrets the inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise.”
