Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mother, talks about receiving a breast cancer diagnosis.

In her new memoir, “Matriarch,” Tina Knowles is disclosing more information about her personal life, including her fight with breast cancer.

In an interview with Gayle King on “CBS Mornings” and in her new book, the entrepreneur, designer, and mother of Beyonce and Solange Knowles revealed that she was given a Stage 1 cancer diagnosis in her left breast.

Following a postponed mammography exam, Knowles, who her fans lovingly call Mama Tina, revealed the diagnosis in July 2024. She also talked candidly about the events that preceded her lumpectomy.

Additionally, in “Matriarch,” which came out on April 22, she continues to provide more personal information about her life. Oprah Winfrey declared the book to be the most recent addition to her renowned Oprah’s Book Club.

In an Instagram post, Winfrey stated, “You’re going to want to clear your schedule when you start this book as you’re going to be totally riveted by the twists and turns of this deeply personal and compelling story.”

Naturally, Knowles made her book’s announcement last autumn.

“I have always been a storyteller, and it’s something I learned from my mother,” she stated. “When I had my own family, I felt that my children needed to understand their origins in order to understand their future. In order for us to all celebrate these themes of courage, motherhood, Black pride, and identity, I’m now prepared to tell my tale to you all.

Both online and in-store versions of the book are available. For $35, fans may get a signed, limited-edition copy of the book at Barnes & Noble. The paperback costs $32 and the hardback costs $22.86 on Amazon.com. The Kindle edition, however, costs $14.99.

Additionally, on April 30, Knowles will begin her nine-city book tour in Washington, D.C. Former first lady Michelle Obama, Keke Palmer, Gayle King, and other notable guests and moderators will be included at “Matriarch: An Evening with Tina Knowles, Family and Friends,” which will conclude in London on June 4.
