The government recalls service and diplomatic passports and sets a deadline of March 17.

Those who still have Diplomatic and Service Passports from the previous administration are being reminded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration to return them by March 17, 2025.

The Office of the President ordered the Ministry to assess and retrieve all such passports that are no longer valid in accordance with current government standards, which led to the Ministry’s previous declaration on January 15, 2025.

Despite previous notifications, 387 service passports and 404 diplomatic passports have not yet been returned.

The Ministry is urging everyone on the following list to promptly turn in their passports to the Ministry’s Legal and Treaties Bureau:

• Former Ministers and their spouses
• Former Members of Parliament from all political parties
• Former Council of State members and their spouses
• Retired Justices of the Superior and Lower Courts
• Former Regional Ministers, MMDCEs, board chairs and members of state institutions
• Officials of the National Cathedral Project
• Former political ambassadors and their dependents
• Businessmen and entrepreneurs
• Former government functionaries
• Any person holding an official passport but not currently serving the state

Passports that are not returned by the deadline will be revoked and placed on the Stop-Watch List, which means they could be seized right away at any Ghanaian entry or departure point, the Ministry has said.
