In honor of World Theatre Day on Thursday, March 27, a new literary work by famous Ghanaian academic Lade Wosornu will be unveiled as part of the Ghana Association of Writers’ “Literature Brewed in Ghana” series.
Lade Wosornu’s “The Casebook of Dr. O.P.Asem” (originally published in 1981 and updated last year) provides patrons with a ‘digested’ version of complex/complicated themes in the consulting room, possibly based on experience, interaction, and/or previously acquired knowledge. This is the book about to be unveiled.
The event, titled “The Unveiling & Review of ‘The Casebook of Dr. O.P.Asem’,” is slated on Thursday, March 27, at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (Kwame Nkrumah auditorium), to commemorate 2025 World Theatre Day.
Since 1962, ITI Centres, ITI Cooperating Members, theater professionals, theatre organizations, theatre universities, and theatre enthusiasts all around the world have commemorated World theater Day on March 27th.
This day is a celebration for those who recognize the value and importance of the art form “theatre” and serves as a wake-up call for governments, politicians, and institutions that have yet to recognise its value to the people and the individual, as well as its potential for economic growth.
Hence, the upcoming event will host a panel review of the book by Dr. Wale Okediran (Secretary General of Pan African Writers Association); Melody Esiawonam Boateng (National Professional Officer, Natural Sciences Sector, UNESCO Office in Accra); Linda Ampah (Author and Adolescents Good Reproductive Health Advocate) and Adjoa Yenyi (Programme Specialist Adolescent and Youth Development) and moderated by Dr. Martin Egblewogbe. Other sessions for the day would dramatic reading from the collection and a conversation with Professor Lade Wosornu.
Dignitaries invited to grace this-all-important event include Honourable Nana Oye Bampoe Addo (Deputy Chief of Staff-Administration); Honourable Abla Dzifa Gomashie (Minister of Ministry of Tourism, Arts And Culture); Mr Edmond Moukala N’Gouemo (Country Representative of UNESCO) among others.
The event is part of a special collection of literary activities organized by the Ghana Association of Writers and its partners to commemorate Ghana’s literary heritage during Ghana Heritage Month.
It is a collaborative effort between the Pan African Writers Association, the Ghana Association of Writers, and the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
