Kumasi: Fire guts four-storey commercial structure at Adum (VIDEO)

In Adum, Kumasi, a huge fire has consumed a four-story business structure, damaging multiple stores and sending local traders into a panic.

Before firefighters arrived to put out the fire, which had begun at the Blue Light arena near Hello FM in the Railways area at around 6:00 AM, it had spread quickly.
As store owners quickly broke into their establishments to save things before the flames consumed them, witnesses reported tumultuous scenes. The majority of the impacted stores sell apparel, jewelry, accessories, and cell phones.

Response of the Fire Service

According to a Facebook post by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), they were notified of the event at 6:05 AM and sent out the first fire appliance from the Regional Headquarters, which reached the location by 6:15 AM.
“The uppermost portion of a four-story business structure in Adum, Kumasi, has been completely destroyed by fire. The first appliance from Regional Headquarters reached the fire scene at 06:15 AM after the GNFS was notified at 6:05 AM, according to the statement.
Other fire engines from KNUST, Ejisu, and Twedie were sent in to help fight the fire, and a turntable ladder was also used.

“Strict firefighting measures are being used to confine the fire and stop it from spreading. The GNFS stated, “Operations officers, other District Commanders, the Regional Fire Commander, and his Deputy are on the scene supervising incident management.”

Although the exact extent of the destruction is still unknown, it is believed that the fire caused major losses to the businesses that were housed in the building.
The source of the fire has not yet been identified by authorities, but after the flames are completely extinguished, investigations are anticipated to begin.

Concerns regarding fire safety precautions in Ghana’s business districts have been heightened by the occurrence once more, and traders are demanding that fire safety laws be strictly enforced.
