Due to an alleged raid on his home, Ken Ofori-Atta is suing National Security Operatives.

In response to a purported raid on his home, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has sued two National Security agents for allegedly violating his right to privacy and trespassing.

The writ, which was submitted to the Accra High Court on Monday, March 10, is based on an event that occurred on February 11, 2025, when people who were thought to be National Security agents reportedly stormed Mr. Ofori-Atta’s home in Accra’s Cantonments.

Two senior police officials, Chief Inspector Mensah and DSP Bismark Boakye Ansah, are named as defendants in the lawsuit.

Mr. Ofori-Atta argues in his statement of claim that the raid was conducted without warning or legal basis.

According to him, the raiding team cautioned his domestic workers to refrain from using cell phones during the whole unapproved operation, but they did not provide any kind of warrant or explain the reason for the search.

He also claims that his domestic staff was traumatized by the raid and had varied degrees of acute shock.

The former Finance Minister said that the Inspector General of Police, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) had not verified if the agents followed their orders.

He went on to say that the occurrence has caused him a great deal of concern and grief, as well as a tremendous deal of loss and harm.

Mr. Ofori-Atta is requesting that the court rule that the search and entry into his home violated his right to privacy and amounted to trespass.

Along with a permanent injunction prohibiting the defendants or their representatives from doing any similar act against him in the future, he is also requesting damages for trespassing and privacy violations.

It is anticipated that the case would push security operations to their limits in terms of protecting private persons’ rights, particularly those of former public officials.
