In an intelligence-led operation in the Accra neighborhood of Oyarifa, 56-year-old Nigerian Uchechukwu Chima was taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
192 kg of cocaine and 0.42 kg of heroin were found at the suspect’s hiding location as a result of the operation, which was conducted on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
The chemicals, which had an estimated street value of $2.1 million, were verified as narcotics by field testing.
NACOC claims that Chima has been under monitoring for a while and is thought to be connected to a number of previous drug-related arrests and seizures in Ghana.
In a statement written by Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, the commission stated, “NACOC has prevented countless lives from being ruined by drug abuse by removing a substantial quantity of drugs from circulation through this seizure.”
The suspect is still being held while the inquiry is ongoing.
NACOC has reiterated its dedication to safeguarding Ghana’s security and fighting drug trafficking.
