The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of a senior lecturer and his teaching assistant who were killed in a road accident on Tuesday.
Dr Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang of the Department of Geography and Regional Planning and his teaching assistant, Peter Amoadu-Asmah, died after they were reportedly crushed by a tipper truck at Third Ridge along the Cape Coast–Accra highway.
The Management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has received with profound shock and deep sorrow, the untimely passing of one of its distinguished faculty members, Dr. Kwabena Koforobour Agyemang and Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah, his teaching assistant,” a statement issued by the university said.
Dr Agyemang, together with his Teaching Assistant, Mr. Peter Amoadu-Asmah, lost their lives in a tragic motor accident at Third Ridge, on the Cape Coast-Accra highway,” the statement added.
Tributes to dedicated academic, outstanding graduate
The statement, signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs, Dr Kwabena Antwi-Konadu, described Dr Agyemang as a dedicated academic and respected member of the university community, known for his contributions to teaching, research and service.
It noted that Mr Amoadu-Asmah, a National Service person and recent graduate of the department, distinguished himself as the overall best graduating student.

Dr Agyemang served as Senior Lecturer at the Department of Geography and Regional Planning from February 2022 until his death in April 2026. He previously lectured in the department between October 2009 and January 2022.
He obtained his doctorate in Geography and Regional Planning from UCC in 2019, having earlier completed a master’s degree in the same field at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology between 1997 and 1999.
