New GAF acting service chiefs are appointed by President Mahama.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have appointed new Acting Service Chiefs, according to President John Dramani Mahama.

The Council of State will be consulted before the modifications go into effect on March 24, 2025.

Commodore Godwin Livinus Bessing is the Acting Chief of Naval Staff; Air Commodore Eric Agyen-Frempong is the Acting Chief of Air Staff; Brig. Gen. William Agyapong is the Acting Chief of the Defense Staff; Brig. Gen. Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu is the Acting Chief of Army Staff; and Brig. Gen. Glover Ashong Annan is the Acting Chief of Staff.

The declaration comes after President Mahama met with the departing Service Chiefs earlier today at Flagstaff House, where they were headed by Chief of the Defence Staff General Thomas Oppong-Peprah.

The President thanked the departing leaders for their devoted service to the country at the meeting.

Ghana’s stability and security have been greatly enhanced by the dedication and professionalism of the departing Service Chiefs, which President Mahama praised.

As the country progresses, he promised to continue to rely on their extensive experience and knowledge.

The President emphasized how crucial the new hires are to bolstering the Ghana Armed Forces’ leadership and guaranteeing the country’s sovereignty is maintained.

He conveyed his faith in the newly appointed Acting Service Chiefs’ capacity to lead with competence and honesty while upholding the GAF’s ideals.

It is anticipated that the new leadership will build on the successes of their predecessors and further improve the Armed Forces’ operational effectiveness.

During their tenure, the departing Service Chiefs were commended for their contributions to preserving peace and security.
