Seven of the 15 District Assemblies and Municipalities in the Upper East Region have found natural deposits, especially gold.
On Saturday, March 29, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, the Upper East Regional Minister, revealed this information to reporters at the planned Bolgatanga airport location.
The minister stressed that miners and gold purchasers would gain a lot from the Bolgatanga Airport’s construction since it would give them a more effective means of shipping their goods throughout the nation.
In order to make the airport a reality, he also pleaded with stakeholders for assistance.
“Mineral deposits have recently been found in this area. There is a substantial business opportunity because around seven of the 15 district assembly contain these deposits, according to Atanga.
“Quicker transportation will be necessary once mining starts in order to move the gold to national markets without the risk of armed robberies,” he continued. We must step up our efforts to upgrade the infrastructure. Our airport will be a great asset, and the Upper East serves as a gateway to Burkina Faso and Togo.
