Ja Rule urged GH creatives: “Go to school; talent is not enough to survive.”

In the past, having skill might have been enough to get one noticed, but American rapper Ja Rule tells Ghanaian creatives that this is no longer the case, particularly in the quickly changing world of today where new trends like artificial intelligence are changing the creative landscape.

“As creatives and musicians, it’s crucial to make education an integral part of your journey. Even if skill is a fantastic place to start, depending only on innate ability is no longer sufficient.

“The world needs extraordinary people who can advance their craft with knowledge, abilities, and dedication—not simply your gift. In order to succeed in the cutthroat music business, you have to be prepared to keep learning, developing, and honing your craft.

Gaining a deeper awareness of the music industry, its trends, and its demands is more important than only mastering instrumentation or music theory. Putting money into your education is an investment in the future.

It’s an investment in your craft and yourself that will eventually pay dividends. Take the initiative to study, develop, and become a great musician rather than merely depending on your natural skill. More skilled and knowledgeable musicians are needed in the world, he suggested.

Additionally, he emphasized that putting education first might help musicians create distinctive sounds and styles that set them apart from their contemporaries while also enhancing their composition, performing, and songwriting abilities.

He went on to say, “Education will also give you the chance to network with other musicians, producers, and industry professionals, which may lead to new collaborations and professions.”

The rapper, who is in the nation to formally launch a six-unit classroom building for Nuaso Anglican Primary School in the Eastern Region, also stated that he is willing to collaborate with pertinent parties to set up avenues for formal education for creatives.

“I’m very passionate and that’s why I’ve decided to invest in this global education programme and I am very much open to engaging leaders on any move that will help our creatives grow,” he explained.
