Attorney General: In April, prosecutions in the Sky Train and National Service scams will start.

Suspects in the National Service and Sky Train scandals are actively assisting investigators, and Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Dr. Dominic Ayine has stated that prosecutions would begin by mid-April.

Dr. Ayine said during a news conference on Monday, March 24, 2025, that eight suspects had been questioned, with several of them offering vital information to support the investigations.

“I can confirm that investigations will conclude in the National Service and Sky Train scandals at the middle of April for prosecutions to begin,” he said.

“Operation Recover All Loot” progress

Two former New Patriotic Party (NPP) appointees have already been arrested as a result of the government’s “Operation Recover All Loot” (ORAL) effort, which was the subject of the press conference.

According to Dr. Ayine, investigators had acquired a substantial amount of evidence, including questionable payments made by private suppliers to high officials. Additionally, he claimed that a Ghanaian MP had taken a bribe to stop the scandal’s media coverage.

“We now have evidence of payments made into the accounts of top National Service executives by private vendors and staff of the scheme,” said Dr. Ayine.

Scandal on the Sky Train
Speaking about the Sky Train issue, Dr. Ayine claimed that Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), requested that GH¢2 million be paid.

Additionally, he asserted that GIIF CEO Solomon Asamoah, who is presently in Senegal, has promised to return to Ghana in three months.

“Irrespective of Sky Train, we can confirm that the GH¢2 million was paid at the request of the GIIF Chairman, and the CEO, Solomon Asamoah, is currently hiding in Senegal,” he stated.

The Attorney General promised Ghanaians that justice would be done and public monies would be recovered from those involved in the scams, with prosecutions scheduled to start in April.
