Allowances for teachers and nursing students are preserved in the 2025 budget.

The government has reaffirmed its support for students in training institutes across the nation by continuing to provide teacher and nurse trainee allowances.

The allowances would continue under the 2025 fiscal year, with a financial allocation to ensure timely payments, according to Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson, who presented the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy on March 11, 2025.

“To support students in their professional training, the government is still committed to maintaining the teacher and nursing trainee allowances,” Dr. Forson told Parliament.

The purpose of the allowances, which assist students in nursing schools and education colleges, is to alleviate financial strains and promote enrollment in vital fields like education and health.

Delays in payments have raised worries among trainees in recent years, prompting requests for a more effective disbursement mechanism.

The administration is aiming to prevent payment delays in the upcoming fiscal year, Dr. Forson reassured parliamentarians.

“The government will make sure that trainees receive their entitlements on time, and the budget provides for the continued payment of allowances,” he stated.
