African culture, elegance, and gastronomy will be woven together at Kente Ball.

When the first Kente Ball takes place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the charming Gaylord National Resort & Convention Centre, National Harbor, Maryland, USA, African arts, culture, and food will be highlighted.

African arts and food are celebrated at the Kente Ball extravaganza, a charity event. Based in Maryland, USA, the Sankofa Foundation is a non-profit cultural organization that organizes it.

The term “Kente” describes a hand-woven fabric with vibrant colors. According to Cosby Cohen of the Sankofa Foundation, the organization selected “kente” for its gala event in the hopes that the numerous vibrant threads would symbolize individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.

The evening offers soul as well as elegance. Rich African food will be served to guests dressed in lavish kente as they enjoy a variety of musical selections that provide the ideal ambiance for dancing and celebration.

The event’s keynote speaker is Dr. Hilda Suka-Mafudze, the ambassador of the African Union to the United States. Additional speakers include Rev. Twanda King, pastor of Union Methodist Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Mr. Martin U. Ezenma, director of international business at the Prince George’s County Economic Development Center; Bishop Glover Evans Kwasi Mawuli, president of the Council of Ghanaian Pastors and Churches, USA; Kofi Okyere Darko, director for diaspora affairs in the Office of the President of Ghana; and Jan Du Plain, CEO and president of Du Plain Global Enterprises.

Ms. Lydia Forson, the creator and CEO of Kinky Matters and an award-winning actress, will emcee the red carpet, where elegance will collide with glitz.

The evening will be hosted by renowned educator and actor Adjetey Anang, who will do it with style and elegance. Additionally, beauty queens from the Miss Senior America pageants will be there.

Marcia L. Dyson, the founder of the Women’s Global Institute Trade Bureau, will host a VIP Pre-meal Cocktail Hour prior to the lavish meal. Foreign dignitaries, local companies, and anybody else interested in trade and investment prospects in Africa are the target audience for this small networking area.
