The idea to release two employment applications is explained by YEA CEO Malik Basintale.

Mr. Malik Basintale, the CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has defended the organization’s choice to launch two distinct mobile applications in an effort to increase employment opportunities in Ghana.

Public outcry about the necessity of two distinct applications rather than a single platform prompted his remarks.

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Mr. Basintale responded to the worries by stating that the two applications are made to fulfill distinct functions.

Plumbers, carpenters, tailors, masons, electricians, and other skilled tradesmen are the target audience for the initial app. Connecting with specialists both domestically and abroad will be simpler for people and companies thanks to this platform,” he said on Facebook.

The program, he continued, is a component of YEA’s intentions to generate employment overseas through a new directorate that will be established in the next few days.

According to Mr. Basintale, a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is being used to build the software for craftsmen. “YEA’s responsibility is to supply competent, trained labor, and the commercial partner will oversee the platform. Over 100,000 new employment in the unorganized sector are anticipated as a result,” he said.

According to him, the second app is YEA’s own Job Centre, which connects companies and job seekers in a variety of industries. The Job Center will cater to a broader spectrum of job searchers than the initial app, which targets craftspeople.

According to Mr. Basintale, “anyone in Ghana can search for jobs without needing IT expertise because this app will be easy to use.”

In order to allay worries about possible financial strain on the organization, he also emphasized that none of the applications will cost YEA anything.
