Dr. Daniel McKorley, the CEO of McDan Group, has called on business institutions, philanthropists, and non-governmental groups to increase their social responsibility programs in order to assist widows nationwide.
Dr. McKorley underlined that, particularly in light of the present economic difficulties, those who are affluent have an obligation to help those who are less fortunate.
He made the argument that while widows continue to suffer in communities across the country, driving a fancy car is pointless.
During the 2025 McDan Foundation Widows Support Project, the McDan Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, which was held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Mantse Agbonaa in James Town, Accra, he made these remarks in an interview with the Media.
“I challenge those who want to help widows to come forward and offer their support,” he stated. “I also hope other NGOs will join in to assist those in need, as they truly deserve our help.”
“While our moms and sisters are suffering in our neighborhoods, we cannot continue to drive our fancy automobiles. It simply isn’t logical. In order for God to keep blessing those of us who have been lucky enough to make it this far in life, we have an obligation to help others who are less fortunate,” Dr. McKorley stated.
“This project excites me, but it also makes me sad,” he continued. It is devastating to watch the sheer number of individuals that are struggling in this nation. He emphasized, “Everyone needs help, and in reality, we all need help.”
Improving lives
Mr. McKorley conveyed his happiness at being able to make thousands of widows smile while celebrating International Women’s Day.
He underlined that the McDan Foundation believes that helping widows is crucial to reducing poverty and putting an end to their suffering nationwide.
“Being able to help my moms, aunts, and sisters here in Accra during this event makes me very happy. It is my responsibility to bring this humanitarian project to James Town because I was born and raised here, and these folks consider me to be one of their own.
“I am equally thrilled by today’s health screening. They are receiving medication, being examined for a number of ailments, and we will provide financial assistance to those who have significant health problems,” he stated.
The 2025 McDan Foundation Widows Support Project, which was established in collaboration with RIDNE Food Consortium, a Ukrainian food and agriculture organization, provided health and economic assistance to more than 6,000 widows from 15 villages in the Greater Accra Region.
Since its founding, the McDan Foundation has provided assistance to widows, and we will keep doing so. Although we have made progress in a number of areas, we have decided to focus our attention on James Town today. Although widows are frequently disregarded in society, Mr. McKorley continued, “I am sincerely thankful to be here celebrating this day with them because to me, every widow in Ghana is like a sister.”
The next project would take place in the Ashanti, Northern, Volta, and Western areas, he revealed in his conclusion.
The Project of the Widow

The beneficiaries received gifts totaling millions of Ghana cedis, including 5kg bags of rice each, various soft drinks, biscuit packs, and salt packs from Electro Chem Ghana Limited’s Ada Songor Salt Project.
The widows also received unique boxes of goods that were packaged by RIDNE Food Consortium. These boxes included rice cakes, condensed canned milk, pasta, dried peas, cookies, sunflower oil, wheat flour, canned turkey meat, canned sardines, and rice cakes.
Health examination
Over 2,000 women, men, and children with a range of medical issues were screened as part of the event’s health screening exercise.
To conduct the exams for the sizable audience that assembled at the location, the McDan Foundation partnered with the VIVA Health Foundation, a group of physicians and nurses.
The Daily Graphic was informed by Sheba Fiadzumor, an Emergency Physician at the 37 Military Hospital and a member of the VIVA Health Foundation, that her team had performed eye exams, ENT (ear, nose, and throat) examinations, dental work, dietary counseling, and other health screenings.
